Life As We Know It....

For the past 16 years, Ben has served Worship Center in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Almost 10 years ago, I came into the picture and began to serve God and the people of this community as well. Last week, after much prayer, our family resigned from leadership at the Worship Center. Ben was Lead Pastor and Elder of the Church; I taught Sunday School for the children. The church was a BIG part of our life for as long as I've been here...

Dreams and several events leading to our resignation confirmed to us that God has more in store for our family. We plan to take the moments that lie before us to find healing and restoration from past spiritual and emotional hurts regarding church and family life. We know God has called our family to be part of something significant in the Kingdom of God... We know He will "re-position" us to fulfill that greater purpose in a specified time. We MUST walk through this season of our life, experience these pains and find healing BEFORE we can minister to other believers in leadership positions experiencing pains as we have. We stand confident in knowing the calling on our lives to make His name famous and serve the people of God. Because of that, even though the church had become such a huge part of our life, we are able to walk away from that and look forward to the things that lay before us.

While we are "confident," I must say there are a number of emotions that I have felt during this process. I really believe this is just the beginning of the end of this season in our life...and we will experience more pain before we can actually begin to start the healing process.

So, life as we know it... well, it's changing dramatically! Ben will be working as an Assistant to one of the best Pascagoula Elementary Schools that our children will also be attending. He also plans to return to school to finish his BA degree and possibly MA, this Fall. I will be working more in the evenings since Ben will not be spending that time at the Church to help supplement the incomes. We will have to make some cuts in our budget, but when you know it's God... you just know you will be alright! We will also be looking for a church in Gulfport-Mobile area to attend. When Ben has finished school, we will most likely relocate. We have seriously considered some specific places, but that is yet to be determined...

I like to look at this just as in the army, God's army... We are being treated for wounds from the war. Then, we will be sent to a "training" school (serve under another's leadership). Finally, sent out. Re-positioned. Given a new assignment! Now, that's just exciting, isn't it? Well, until someone starts picking at the scabs...but that's gotta happen right?

Thanks to all my faithful followers and those who support my family in kind words of encouragement and prayers. I appreciate you more than you know... God bless!

VanderVeen Family

Special thanks to the VanderVeen Family who are featured in our Colombian Adoption Calendar this month! This family has an awesome story about how God knitted their family together! Please feel free to check out their blog at http://ardenlane.net/. Also, if you haven't had a chance to purchase a calendar, we have about 15 or so left, and we've marked the price down to ONLY $12!!!

We hope to collect enough donations from the calendar to cover the Colombian Attorney Fee of $1,500. Not sure if we will make that goal...but we have $510 now!! Each family featured helped us sell some of the calendars so still waiting to hear back from them and collect their donations! Hopefully, we will be close to 2/3 of the fee. I can't wait to see how it does in the end! I'd like to get either the same or more families involved next year to do this for another prospective adoptive family...It would be like our way to give back and kindof like a grant of our own to give away... You know like the previous post...there are so many ways you give and be a help to others... I can't wait when one day me and another group of 10-12 families can present another family with a check to their adoption agency! Woohoo! Something bigger than myself, than my family... something so much bigger!!!

147 Million Minus One.

Sitting at home with Diego... thinking how can I make a difference...

Did you know that there are OVER 147 MILLION orphans worldwide? That's a crisis people! Every 12 seconds a child becomes orphaned due to AIDS. 147 Million sounds HUGE! Even OVERWHELMING!!!! What could I possibly do?

Well, I might not can bring home 147 million, but what about ONE?! I can make a difference in the life of ONE! Yes, I can! I can even make a difference in the life of many...if I choose. I can support others who can bring home more children. I can support emotionally, financially, and spiritually... yeah, I can do that! I will do that! Will you?

There are families all over that need our support. Yes, they need someone to cheer them on when they begin to doubt or second-guess themselves! When the money's not there, yes, they need you to send a little *seed* money to remind them that God is in control and there's no amount of money that is going to stop them from bringing that baby home! And yes, your prayers availeth much... they have no idea where their children are or the birth/foster parents are okay, what special concerns/needs they might have... they need YOU to pray! Pray on their behalf...Pray for the Orphans Worldwide that God would increase their network of support...

As we are waiting for our referral, we want to cheer along other families in the process of adopting, as well. Please help us by following these blogs as well and leave encouraging thoughts/prayers in their comment section. If you feel led to give, don't second guess yourself, do it! You'll be blessed in knowing YOU made a difference...and that's 147 Million MINUS one!
