Share the Love

Last night, we went back to Coronado and fed nearly 100 children and a few adults chicken, rice, pan, and juice. It was a bit chaotic as there were more kids and the space is small. Children sat along the side of the walls on the floor. We saw several children that we had met the day before return.

Baby Steven
He is a fun, little rascal! His grandmother lives in Coronado, also. When asked if he wants to go see her while in the area, he quickly will tell them, "No, no!" He is very happy with Lala and Rocky and even calls them Mami and Papi. Lala and Rocky are unable to have a child. Lala has a BIG Mami's heart for children and loves on all the children around.

Despite what we've been told about the ease of Colombians adopting, they say it is very difficult for them inside of the country. Because it is so hard to adopt, the Pastors say that some here have learned of women birthing a child in which they do not want and once child is born they take it as their own to the place of registry, and register the baby as if it were their child. This happens often.

One thing witnessed last night that disturbed me was a grandmother stealing chicken from a toddler's plate. It was actually the toddler pictured at the top of the blog. Ben was standing next to me and saw her do it a second time! I was angered initially, but I've come to realize that these people are so hungry they steal from their own children. Heartbreaking! Please pray for David and his family. His mom has had 6 children. Only 3 are living, and she is in her early twenties.

If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.
