It's our second year anniversary as a family today. We went for a visit to the Cali ICBF office and took them a cake in appreciation of what they do for some of the children of Colombia. The director of this office was really nice.
The interpretor, our friend and pastor we are working with here, said that it was unbelievable how easy it was for us to enter the government building! The guard was expecting us. Lucia had called and set us up! We went right in to the fourth floor, and directly into her office. She gave us a tour of the facility and "the room" where adoptive parents meet their children! It was neat to think this is the room where our friends, the Armstrongs', had most likely met their three jewels!
We gave her the donations sent to us by Kayah, the Robeez shoes, and also some children toothbrushes and toothpaste. She was appreciative, yet wanted us to know that Colombia takes care of their kids. Milton and Brooke later told us that Colombia is very prideful at times and don't like to ask for help, but will take our donations. We did not mean to be disrespectful at all, but we know what our children came with...they didn't come with their own clothes... they didn't have a lot of things...
From spending time with the Hills', there are so many other kids out there that ICBF does not or cannot get to that need assistance. Because our heart is to give, we give... Anyways, next year, we may visit and bring a cake to give them, and just give our donations to the church here to distribute as needed to the children in Palmira and Coronado.
So, it's been two years... Where do we begin? I would like to do a post with then and now pics, but that will have to wait til we are at home. It has been a blessing to be back in Colombia, and we have thoroughly enjoyed serving the people here. I know when I come back I WILL know more Spanish. I just think of what more I could do if I spoke their language! The children have enjoyed it too. It is so neat to see them serve others. I believe when God placed these three children into our care 2 yrs ago, He had a much greater plan than just creating our family; there was a Kingdom thing He had in mind! We praise God for our family today! He has been so good to us!
