Creative Thinking.

Brooke made this comment as we went into one of the church family's home, "There is nothing that cannot be fixed or reused." She went on to point out this chair. The seat was broken, and then fixed with another broken school chair.

The walls throughout this house were thin pieces of wood like paneling. Different shapes put together formed the walls, and the same covered the home with tarps. Shreds of material made the curtains. In all of that, it was very, very neat. There were several flies, and no electricity or running water.

Because this family chooses to send their three children to school, they have little money. The public school system here costs money. This family is very thin. It is uncertain how often they eat. But they were eager to share with us... the husband of this family is learning to make neat things out of wood to provide extra money for the family. We bought a few pieces that we could bring home. The husband's name is Fernando, and he also works burning bricks. Their home is in the dump area next to the place where they heat and stack the bricks. Their children were pictured in previous posts.

Hello Wood Family! Just stopping by to see how you are all doing. May God continue to use you there in Colombia this week! We are praying for you here, and thank you for keeping your blog updated while gone! It is helpful to know how to pray for the people you are meeting and serving as well as yourselves.

Much Love,
Sheila D.
