the weekend in a nutshell...

Friday came and went like a whirlwind...we had invited a couple of families over, but had to change plans and go to one of their homes instead...because of plumbing issues. We only have two bathrooms. One the children use as well as company, and ours that is attached to our bedroom.

We suspect a gremlin did something...OR maybe it was Diego that stuffed something in the toilet! We've had to save a poor dinosaur from getting flushed away once...this time, both dinos have been accounted for and we just aren't sure if it is something that was flushed or if it has something to do with city plumbing. Ben is going to call the city water tomorrow, before we have to pay for a plumber to come out...for now, everyone is trekking thru our bedroom to potty.

Anyways, we had fun playing Family Feud at my friend Jill's place. The kids loved hanging out with their kids, and said today they wanted to go back to Josh's. They usually run on overload when they visit a friend. It's like visiting a toy store to them. They often destruct the child's room and then at the end of our visit we try to put it back together! Ha!

Saturday nite, Ben went to a men's fellowship and I had planned to go to his mother's home and surprise her with some framed pictures (once married with children, photos make great gifts!) Well, got the children all dressed and ready to go and could not find my keys anywhere!!! How frustrating! My MIL says I never come over, and I really was going to go over last night...however, turns out...my keys were locked in the Suburbie!!!

Sunday, church...nap, bike ride...had an interesting bike ride--that's another post for another day...Anyways...I have been a little discouraged about the weightloss/mile challenge. Last month, did not make the 60 miles...close and then got frustrated with no weight loss and just quit. I could have completed it...but just chose not to. I am going to try it again this month. We'll see what happens...I have been watching "I can make you thin" on TLC, and that's just depressing to me...people make it sound/look so easy---whatever!!! And then someone at church said something similar to one of my blogging buddies about their new hair-cut (a short one)--they felt more energized...I'm thinking, do I want to go shorter??? Well, the battle of the bulge continues...I have a ticker along side the blog to indicate my success or lack of...there are some other blogger families who are also challenging themselves to do the same...it's really a win-win, even if you don't see the scales change; you are moving your body and being active, and that is always a good thing! Well, until the next time...the race goes on--ciao!

Hang in there, Wendi!

You're right, moving and being active is really, really important. Plus, you must remember that as you exercise, you may also be building muscle, so you don't always see the results on the scale. You can tell more by how your clothing fits.

I'm looking forward to warm weather here (although the mountains are supposed to get over a foot of snow tomorrow!) . . . I always feel much more energized and get to exercise more because I'm outside with the kids.

Keep working hard! YOU CAN DO IT!!

I know what you mean. Its hard to get/stay motivated. I have a trainer that I work with 2x per week. But its so easy to cancel that I have a hard time even committing to that. Hopefully the weather is finally ready to turn nice (temps are good, just lots of rain lately - which we desperately need) and I'll be able to get outside with Mateo. Now if I can just figure out a way to get Andres in on the action!

You can make the 60 miles! I know you can. Let us know if you need motivation. We can always provide encouragement. :)

Girl, YOU CAN DO IT! I'm so excited for you that you are putting forth the effort. Janine's right, though, building muscle's a double-edged sword - you don't always lose weight when you replace "stored energy" (it sounds better that way instead of calling it fat!) with muscle.

I'm not quite "there" with the 60-mile challenge, I'll be your cheerleader all the way; BUT I'm really liking the idea of challenging each other with the Spanish a lot.

Juntos podemos hacerlo!!!!

Keep working at it Wendi! You can do it; before you know it, the 60 miles will be complete!

Wendi,

Weight is because of gravity, right? I know I can't pay attention to the scale because I tend to fluctuate, it's really wierd. Before we had Asher I was working out 7 hours a week. I was in good shape but my body fat was still high and my weight really didn't change. Seriously, I have a picture of me holding Asher (the most unattractive picture) and my arms are seriously toned. What did my bf need to be? Know what I mean?

Look at what your clothes tell you. My husband can drop lbs like nothing but I don't budge that much.

Don't give up on yourself. You have just hit a wall. Try to change it up a little if you can. Keep it up, YOU CAN DO IT!
