I got so frustrated, I left the room and told him to go to bed. He began screaming bloody murder, which it seems he's been doing lately to try to get his way. I put Andrew in our bed so he could try to get some sleep, and then, I went back in...and I tried to just hold him...it was then he put his little Beanie Baby Cat to my mouth that I realized he just wanted me to give his cat a kiss goodnite, too, after I had hugged and kissed him.....
I felt awful. His "kiss" doesn't sound anything like "kiss" or "iss" or anything...I really think he has some speech problem, but the school system doesn't want to test or do anything until maybe next year...I felt bad for getting frustrated...I think God used this opportunity also to remind me to slow down and be patient in moments like this...
We have been understanding each other for the most part the past few months, last night was an exception...he just wanted me to kiss his cat; how precious is that! The tantrum was uncalled for, but it sure was important to him, ey.

I love the pic, I laughed out loud when it came up. He is just so cute. I have to give you a "congrats mami" on a lesson learned. We have to remember to slow down; we get so bogged down in life we forget our minds. We will be praying for his speech, have you tried any sign language to help bridge the gap while waiting for possible services?
Aaaaahhhhh.....poor Diego!!!! You know what Wendi...that used to happen to us with our oldest, John. He really couldn't talk until he was almost 5! He would babble and gesture things..and get frustrated with us. Our second son, Daniel, could talk before John could! Don't feel bad. Before you know it, Diego won't know how to stay quiet!!
Hey girl, don't beat yourself up! Just all part of the learning experience for all of us. I've done the same thing with Nate but you begin understanding their "language" after a few times. Then it starts changing on you again. Ack! But hey, you figured out what he wanted and all is right with the world.
P.S. LOVE the hair!!
I have the same problem with Andrew and Juan. Maicol can usually figure out what Juan is saying in Spanish, but not always. With Andrew sometimes I just have to guess until I (sometimes) get it right.

Hey, Wendi,
I have also this this experience with my boys! Andres is more difficult to understand, for some reason, he will just keep repeating what he's saying until I get it (getting more and more frustrated--and louder--as he goes!). I also have to kiss their stuffed animals before they go to sleep!
Your kids are adorable and you are a beautiful family. God bless you!
