I like your answer to number 25! I should've put that down. ;-)
I was reading your previous blog about the kids praying and being free in worship. My husband and I grew up in the Church of Christ which during our time, did not clap or raise hands in worship. Now we've been in the Christian churches for 11 years and it is such freedom to be able to praise God while clapping, lifting up our hands to Him and keeping the beat with our feet! We don't go crazy jumping around but we feel that we are free as we worship the way we do. Have you heard the song "I Am Free"...I think by the Newsboys? Great song!

How long and where did you live in CA? I lived in San Diego for 10 years. I loved it! I have been meaning to ask, have you been taking the pictures of your kids or are some of them professionally done? I love the ones with the kids on the beach! I am sorry I missed you guys at prayer on monday. I tried to get on for 30 min. but it wasn't working. Thanks also for your encouraging words. You are an inspiration to me :)

Wendi (and Denise too),
So interesting to see Denise mention the song "I Am Free" because for 2 days now I've been meaning to find the time to post a comment regarding our Colombian kids' response to our church and our worship services. Our church bands play that song "I Am Free" lots and it's always a fun and spirit-filled experience... the pastor is usually up there dancing and jumping around...you get the picture. Anyways we celebrated the New Year with a church-wide family fun night of ice skating and playing soccer (indoor facility), then for worship at the church to ring in the New Year. Rick and I had been wondering how the kids would like our church, etc, and we were so blessed to see them not holding back in any way. Karen was clapping along & moving about with a great big smile on her face, and better yet, Fabian politely nudged his Papi out of the way so he could move to the aisle. We thought perhaps he wanted to see the band more clearly, but were so overjoyed to see him lift his hands to heaven and dance proudly as he held his gaze toward heaven. It was so cool to see this come naturally from their hearts! Talk about a WOW moment! Thank you Jesus!
Just wanted to post that since it all fit together. Also, in regards to that particular song, 8 months ago our church got issued a citation for a violation for a noise ordinance for singing loudly to that song one Sunday morning. Crazy huh? Seems the neighbors to the church complained that the noise crossed the barriers to their property. Anyways, the pastor has been working with the town council to get a waiver for churches during their times of worship.

Hey Wendi!
This was such a great way to get to know you as well! Thanks for taking the time to post it. Agreed...much better than email!
Oh, for the love of 'Mexican Cactus Salad' (Ensalada de nopalitos)! You must try! It is very unique. There is a wonderful cookbook out, called "Healthy Latin Cooking" by Steven Raichlen, that I use and found the recipe in. If you have eaten and also enjoy Colombian Chicken & Vegetable Stew (Ajiaco colombiano), there is a wonderful version for this in there as well!
Blessings to you as you get in touch with that child-like heart and worship the Lord in freedom and unrestraint. =)
