...Seems to be Andrew's phrase of the week! Diego has even picked it up!
Today, Ben met with Andrew's teacher, Mrs. Forehand, at school for our first official parent conference with the teacher. It is something I guess standard before the end of the first 9 weeks. Guess what? She said Andrew was one of the smartest kids in class! She said that even despite the English barrier, he has caught on quickly. When other students seem to be struggling to figure something out, Andrew has already got it solved...said he was sneaky-in a good way---a good problem solver! True, he is! Also, she said that many of the kids consider him their best friend. He is an all around kid in the classroom.
Whew! What a relief! When we started school, we had a few bad days and even an office referral. I really believe it was the difficulty with the language. Andrew was attempting to speak English and we couldn't understand him and the language he did know, we couldn't understand! Poor guy....but thank God, he is adjusting well. Good at counting, ABC's...we continue to practice at home after school. I don't want him to be behind if I can help it. Mother is helping a lot after school, and Ben and I also work with him when we get home.
God is good. And we are blessed with Andrew. I thank God for allowing me to be his Mami...and giving me the nuggets of joy by simple phrases like, "Awe Man..."
